Student Loans Increase

 

Student loans are what people still have to pay off even well after their college days, in order to repay their debt to the government. These loans have been on the uprising, mainly around the interest rates, so if you are going to pay these loans back, better get to it. Now a days, college has been more pricy than before and now they want to increase the student loans repayment rates, it is absolutely ridiculous. We have to pay more money to get educated in our future career that the economy needs in order to thrive, and the government wants to make us pay more. People complain, including government, that the job market is scarce because they need people with certain qualifications such as a college degree, well, how are people suppose to receive an education when the prices and rates of colleges are being increased. The reason why people do not go to college is not because they do not want to, I mean some people do this, but, it is because people cannot afford an education with such high prices. I personally think college should be limited to a price, considering government complains about the uneducated and so don't others, so that way people can afford an education after high school.

 

Pregnant Woman Attacked

 

KFOX News- Pregnant woman was stabbed in her home while videochatting a military, overseas husband. Rachel Poole, mother and Justin Poole, husband, birthed a healthy unharmed child named Isabella and the suspect is said to be fellow soldier of the husbands, Corey Moss. Rachel Poole is recovering from stab wounds, and she said "through everything, I am glad everything is fine now"

 

Fort Wayne Homepage - Pregnant woman was stabbed due to her husbands fellow soldier trying to avoid car repairs. He allegedly damaged a borrowed car from the husband, Justin Poole and then didn't want to pay the repairs and attacked Rachel Poole, wife of Justin. Everything is gone back to normalcy and the baby is healthy and strong, while mother is in recovery. Also the family would like to thank anyone who sent in donations and gave money to her, her daughter and Justin.

 

Danvers Teacher Death

 

Enstarz - " The murder of a Danvers, Mass., High School math teacher by a student may have been caused by the 14-year-old's reported infatuation with his instructor" was their take an presentation on the story at hand and as to how he saw the teacher. They said he snapped because of the rejection from the teacher and his actions were triggered by this. Focused mainly on the story and what they thought to be possible reason for the actions taking by the 14 year old student/athlete.

 

WBUR -  "Investigators have not offered any clues about a potential motive or how Ritzer was killed." is what this site is saying about the report, also that why a shy soccer playing freshman would kill his innocent math teacher. They did not talk much about the incident itself, but focused more on peoples thoughts and emotions.

Before this class began, I rarely if ever watched the news, and now all I do is watch the news, look for updates, receive news notifications on my phone, and am always constantly involved now. Well, now I am seeing things I do not like in todays news, such as school shootings, murders, governmental issues, well, my question is, does it seem to anyone that our country is seeing more and more horrific events become more common? Do we not go a few days without hearing about a shootout, school shooting, a lockdown, a shutdown or a government crisis? Before we all started paying close attention to the news, did anyone think that all thses things have been occurring and we have not seen them, or is it just recently these things are surfacing more and more each day?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 





Government Shutdown

I honestly do not understand why a government shutdown is necessary, it is a childish way of dealing with a situation. Not only does this shutdown effect the government production but, it effects the people of the US too. Now that this has begun people have lost jobs in the sense of money, they go to work knowing they are not going to be payed. I cannot believe that people are going to suffer for something that the government has done, and in which is the Republicans fault. They originally agreed and passed the law and now they are complaining about it all. There has been a reason why government shutdown has not happened in 17 years, it is because it is unproductive and destroys people's working lives. We are going to lose tons of jobs and workers interests, the amounts of money  lost for workers dude to non payed work time is going to be substantial.

European Parliament Approves Tough New Tobacco Rules

ABC News- European government has decided to pass new rules on Tobacco industry and banned certain aspects. New bans on menthol and have decided to require bigger warning labels and more actual warnings. Along with this they banned other flavoring agents in efforts to curb smoking. 

Daily Motion- European lawmakers have approved sweeping new regulations governing the multi-billion dollar tobacco market. Including bans on electronic cigarettes, flavoring agents, menthol in cigarettes, and putting bigger warnings and labels out on packs.
 

Dozens Dead in India Stampede(Compare/Contrast

NBC News covers the story using the background information of the situation and provides statistics such as 89 dead and 100s injured. Also they were very short and succinct about their coverage, along with them only speaking on the behalf of the police and their actions to control the situation.

 

On the other hand, The New York Times gave a lengthy analysis and summary of the scene and story. They touched more on the scene and the aftermath of the situation, they talked about the clothing left all over the bridge, the number of people who drowned in the river below and the people crushed on the bridge due to the stampede.

 

Question

For the Government Shutdown, we are now heading into another week of this stalemate, does anyone think they have a easy solution that should be proposed or any other thoughts as to the gravity of the situation? Is this necessary? Is there a better way to go about the same situation?

1: "5-month old baby was killed at airport"
The 5 month old baby boy was crushed and killed at a Spanish Airport when he was on a conveyer belt for luggage pick up. It was un clear as to how the baby got there. In my opinion I do not understand how you could accidently place a 5 month old baby on a conveyer belt, I feel disgusted that a 5 month old baby has lost his life because a idiotic parent cannot take care of their child correctly.

All three of these news carriers touch upon the Putin's plan to disarm Syria of chemical weapons.

"ABC News"- "The U.S., Britain, France and others believe that a report by U.N. inspectors has proven the attack was conducted by the Syrian military."
"BBC News"- "Russia will give the Security Council evidence implicating Syrian rebels in a chemical attack on 21 August, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

3: "Naval Yard Shooting"
NBC News and ABC News both covered this story in similar fashions but had slight differences as well. NBC News states that the gunman shot anyone no specific motive or pattern, likewise, ABC News also said he shot anybody he saw. Both news centers relayed the same information but presented it a little different. NBC News supplied the information by summarizing the events and telling us the layout of the events. On the other hand, ABC News supplied their information through an eye witness account.
